Frequently Asked Questions

  • Therapy can be a transformative experience, especially if you're dealing with trauma, dissociation, emotional abuse, or relationship and boundary issues. Therapy can help you:

    • Process and heal from traumatic experiences.

    • Understand and manage dissociative symptoms.

    • Rebuild self-esteem and confidence after emotional abuse.

    • Develop healthy boundaries in relationships.

    • Improve communication and interpersonal skills.

    • Foster personal growth and resilience

Working with a therapist can give you the resources and insights to navigate challenges and enhance your overall well-being.

  • None of us are born with the ability to regulate our emotions. That capacity develops within safe, attuned relationships. When early caregiving is shaped by fear, neglect, inconsistency, or harm, the nervous system adapts in order to survive. For many people, this adaptation includes trauma-related dissociation.

Dissociative experiences such as depersonalization/derealization (DPDR), Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), and Other Specified Dissociative Disorders (OSDD) are not signs of pathology or weakness. They are protective responses—often emerging when the same caregiver is both a source of comfort and fear, placing attachment needs and survival instincts in direct conflict.

My work is grounded in psychodynamically informed therapy. This means I pay close attention to early relational patterns, unconscious processes, and how the therapeutic relationship itself becomes a central part of healing. This approach is informed by my clinical training, professional community, and lived experience.

I believe healing unfolds within a consistent therapeutic relationship—one where safety, connection, and trust can slowly be rebuilt over time. I work from a phase-based approach that respects each person’s unique pace and the protective strategies that have supported survival.

I hold deep respect for the many ways people experience themselves and express what cannot yet be put into words. My intention is to offer a therapeutic space grounded in steadiness and care, where nothing needs to be hidden or pushed aside. When it feels supportive, I gently integrate additional approaches—such as parts-oriented work, Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR), and Expressive Arts to help foster connection, regulation, and healing.

  • The type of therapy most beneficial for you depends on your unique circumstances and goals. As a therapist specializing in trauma, dissociation, emotional abuse, and relationship and boundary issues, I offer several evidence-based approaches, including:

    • Trauma-Focused Therapy: To help you process and heal from traumatic experiences.

    • Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR): A gentle yet powerful approach to healing early attachment disruptions and deeply rooted trauma. DBR utilizes the brain's natural responses to process feelings of overwhelm, shock, and distress.

    • Attachment-Based Therapy: To explore and heal relationship dynamics and attachment issues.

    • Parts-work therapy: To explore, understand, and identify different aspects of yourself to foster understanding and internal harmony.

    • Somatic Therapy: To focus on the connection between the mind and body, addressing the physical manifestations of trauma and stress.

    • Expressive Arts Therapy: To use creative expression as a means of exploring and processing emotions, promoting healing and self-discovery through art, music, and movement.

    • Relational Therapy: To improve interpersonal relationships and understand how past relationships influence present ones.

    • Psychodynamic Therapy: To explore unconscious patterns and how they affect current behavior and relationships.

    • Strengths-Based Therapy: To leverage your inherent strengths and resources, empowering you to overcome challenges and achieve your goals.

During our beginning sessions, we will discuss your history, current challenges, and therapy goals to determine the best approach for your needs. We can create a plan to support your healing and growth.

  • I specialize in working with adults aged 18 and older, focusing on trauma and dissociation, relationships and boundaries, and emotional abuse. I’m currently prioritizing new clients who are women, non-binary, or trans, and especially welcome those who identify as LGBTQIA+, TNBGE, or neurodivergent. I don’t offer couples therapy or work with individuals who are currently experiencing extreme physical or emotional abuse or who are harming others. I offer therapy (online or in-person) to individuals residing in New York. Feel free to schedule a complimentary consultation to see if I'm the right fit for your needs.

  • Sessions are typically 60 minutes once a week. If you are interested in longer or more frequent sessions, please get in touch with me about availability.

  • I do not take insurance. I can give you a "superbill" for possible reimbursement for out-of-network (OON) benefits. If you are interested in using OON benefits please check with your insurance company regarding your coverage.

  • Yes. Everything shared in sessions is kept strictly confidential and will not be disclosed without your written consent. I do not use an Electronic Health Record (EHR), record sessions, or use AI transcription services.

There are, however, a few legal exceptions where I may be required to break confidentiality:

    • Suspected child or elder abuse

    • Serious intent to harm oneself or others

    • Court-issued subpoenas

If a situation arises where confidentiality may need to be broken, I will make every effort to discuss this with you whenever possible.

  • I use a managed sliding-scale approach (Green Bottle Method) to help make services more accessible. My current fee range is $150–$250, based on availability and individual circumstances.

Reduced-fee spots below $150 are limited and may become available over time. Clients may request placement on a waiting list to be notified if a below-$150 option opens.

If you have questions about the sliding-scale structure or would like to request placement on the waiting list, please contact me directly for more information.

  • I ask that you cancel or reschedule at least 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if a cancellation is made less than 24 hours in advance. If we are unable to reschedule the session that week (one reason is that I may not have openings), you will be charged. This is necessary because a time is reserved for you and our work together.

  • My office is centrally located in Beacon, NY, just a few blocks from Main Street, with a beautiful view of Mount Beacon. I will provide the exact address when we schedule our first session..

  • That is a great question! You can use this link to self-schedule a free 20-minute video consultation. Please feel free to e-mail or call me if you have any other questions or concerns. If we decide to move ahead and schedule a first appointment after the consultation, I will give you a password to access the client paperwork page on this website. (It is at the bottom of the get in touch webpage.) I ask that you fill out the paperwork online and sign it electronically before our first appointment.
